1. Proliferative (follicular) phase

• 5.-14. days of menstrual cycle

• endometrium thickness growth (proliferation) under estrogens from Graafian follicle - restoration of epithelium from the preceding menstruation when endometrium layers have sloughed, regeneration from stratum basale

• variations in length of menstrual cycle due to

length of proliferative phase
