hCG - human chorionic gonadotropin

• GP, __ subunits

• _-subunit identical to LH, FSH, TSH

• 6.-14. day after conception- detected in blood, urine

• produced by placenta - syncytiotrophoblast, fetal liver and kidney

• acts on the same receptor as LH - secretion of progesterone, estrogen in corpus luteum and later in placenta

• tumor marker - secreted by GIT tumors
